A Sparkling Valentine’s Day Brunch
CELEBRATING LOVE AND TOGETHERNESS AT KITCHEN AT COBBLE HILL
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10th
What do wine and gems have in common?
Both are unique expressions of “terroir”… of the earth!
If you know a little about wine, you also know a little about gems… in the same way that elements in the soil inform how a wine tastes, the minerals present deep in the earth a gem was formed impact the color and clarity of a gem!
And this is just one of many parallels…
Our Sparkling Tastings are not only designed to nourish appetites, but also joy, curiosity, and community. Together, we expand things to know and questions to ask about responsible sourcing!
Beyond the dynamic Mediterranean flavors Kitchen on Cobble Hill is known for, guests will savor a flight of 3 wines, paired with 3 gemstones - experiencing the dynamic qualities of the gems, up close and personal!

Your GEMS + FINE JEWELRY can support climate action and UN SDGs!
When it comes to intentional jewelry purchases, responsibly sourcing is a better goal that positively impacts people and the planet. Examples are choosing jewelry with “ingredients” such as post-consumer recycled diamonds, colored gemstones from artisanal miners, and Fairmined gold. Read on here.

My concierge services also can help you acquire ready-made jewelry of your dreams.
THE S-WORD AND SUSTAINABLE JEWELRY?
“Sustainable jewelry” is a problematic phrase that likely does not mean what you think. We see greenwashing is prevalent in all industries from fashion to beauty to household goods. It is a word that is not just overused, its meaning is ambiguous.
Responsible sourcing is a better, more holistic goal. Beyond practices that are conflict-free, ethical, and traceable, it protects people, their skills, and the natural environment. Even better if vertical integration exists within these remote, local economies that enables communities to sustainably thrive.
I carefully vet my partners, who provide as much information as possible about the who, where, and how of their materials. If specific information in not known, that is also shared.
GEMSTONES AND PROVENANCE REPORTS
One of my trusted partners is Nomad’s. Each of their gemstones has an accompanying Provenance Report. There are 4 possible levels of traceability, with each level corresponding with a degree of certainty of origin, history, and other information about the gem.
PRECIOUS METALS
While recycled gold can be a good start, a step further certified post-consumer recycled gold, and even better than that is mercury-free Fairmined gold.
MEET FAIRMINED GOLD
In the same way we can know where our food is from and who made our clothes, this is also possible for the gold in our jewelry. Read on to discover a comparison between recycled gold versus Fairmined gold…
